BACK OF THE NET: SPORTEGO SIGNS SECOND FOOTBALL CLUB IN SEVEN DAYS

Chesterfield FC joins the ‘Sportego Revolution’ to enhance fan engagement during 2015/16 season

Within two weeks of launching in the UK, Sportego, the global marketing and gaming development company, has signed a second British Football Club: Chesterfield FC. The League One Club is the latest professional sporting organisation to take advantage of the unique Sportego offering to increase engagement with fans and exceed ROI targets.

Offering Spireites supporters a tailor-made Chesterfield FC match day gaming application, available on iPhone and Android devices throughout the 2015/16 season. The app will enable wider club-community engagement in real-time via an array of features, such as a score predictor, match based quizzes and polls – all of which will be fully integrated into a Chesterfield FC social media hub.

Following West Bromwich Albion, who kick started this ‘Sportego Revolution’ by signing a partnership in August 2015, this second signing emphasises a growing trend with football clubs realising the huge opportunities and benefits of fan engagement.

Sportego, through its FanFeud.co.uk product, is the first app developer globally to offer cash based fantasy football on individual Premier League games, available on iPhone and Android devices. The white label applications can help any club and league to enhance consumer participation, heighten brand awareness, while enabling data capture and increasing revenue potential. Standing out from its competition, its applications can be produced as standalone products or built into existing gamification suites.

“Chesterfield FC is joining a set of clubs dedicated to ultimate club engagement,” states Trevor Keane, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sportego. “In addition to developing the gamification suite we are keen to embed ourselves further into the club culture at Chesterfield and, as a result, Sportego has become an official sponsor of midfielder: Jay O’Shea. Our joint partnership is based on a growing appetite in the game and we’re excited to see what the future holds.”

Head of Commercial & Marketing, Kevin Fitzgerald said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be linking up with Sportego and offering our supporters the opportunity of being able to engage with the club. We are always looking at different ways and means of being engaging with the supporter base, so hopefully all Spireites will have some fun with this.”

Sportego is continuing to attract investors, professional sporting business and fans alike – the big game, is about to get bigger.
